BE KIND TO YOUR SCRAP METAL RECYCLERRECYClING GUIDELINES
Got scrap? Chuck it in our on-site drop-off bin anytime, or in the big yellow bin at the landfill. We also do bin service with delivery, farm cleanup, and processing. AND, we’ll pay you for it!
Additionally, here are some common requests that scrap metal dealers make of their patrons. These criteria have to do with the size and form of the metal object and the “extra” materials commonly attached to metal brought to scrap yards, which should be dealt with elsewhere. Thank you!Silver Star Salvage & Recycling »
What YOU SHOULD DO
Remove as much non-metal material as possible, and dispose of it properly yourself, e.g. chair seats, food can labels, attached wood or plastic, tires, and mattresses. Hazardous materials need to be removed as well, such as mercury switches in vehicles, oil or fuel tanks, and ballast in light fixtures.
Realize that appliances have little final value, so bringing your old appliances to us will even save you landfill fees.
We take 20 lb. tanks as-is. Please ensure propane tanks have been removed from barbecues. And remember, metal items are not biodegradable, so never take them to the landfill!
Sealed cylinders are dangerous when compacted. You can help create a safer work environment for yard employees. And, if you bring garbage or plastic, it comes out of our pocket to properly dispose of.
